Samurai sword vs.bullet

That's an old trick that has been done in wild wast shows and other venues for more than a hundred years. and with knives much more lowly than Japanese swords.

I used to shoot competitively and we used to split .22 and .308 slugs on target holders, which were a 45 degree angle and blunted. At those speeds, it doesnt take much to take apart lead. You can fragment some high velocity rounds by shooting them at twigs.

Well there was a video posted on bladeforums not long ago, where they used a M2 (0.50 cal) on auto with ball ammo to shoot at a Katana and it took several rounds (about 6-8) till the blade gave up. And they showed it in slow motion. Now that was impressive!

Y'know, by watching the way the blade is wobbling back and forth, it seems like it's really the glancing blows that cause the breakage. Side impact looks to be its downfall, not direct impact to the edge. I'm no scientist, but I'd like to see a test done like this with some controls in place. That said, you gotta love any smith that would submit one of his babies to such abuse.

So if I block a bullet with my Spyderco I will then have 2 gun shot wounds vs 1...
