Photos of the Frank Buck hand made Kalinga wanted or any photos from the old museum would be terrific. I've looked and cannot find photos from the Buck factory museum prior to the Idaho move. Anyone have any photos to share? Thank you kindly.

Frank's hand made Kalinda left the San Diego museum but never arrived at its intended destination. Some photos of it must exist from the San Diego museum. There is a story here that needs telling and I am hankering to hear it. The Kalinga we know today didn't just fallout of the sky. Frank Buck invented it and I want to lay my eyes on the original before I take the dirt nap.

I'm certain Frank made that style knife as he had a flamboyant style. He like fast cars too. So did Paul Boss. DM

I do not know how to turn on a PM. I checked my settings.

In order to turn on Personal Messaging please, Go to: Forum Actions, General Settings, Personal Messages. I hope this helps. Thank you kindly.

Oregon, Thanks, I do not have that feature, only Visitor messages, which I do get. I sent you my email address so please check.

Thank you Doc. You have email.

Anybody reading this actually meet Frank? Or, see his one of one Kalinga in the San Diego museum? Why are there no photos of said museum?

(sidebar: Anyone actually believe that the missing vintage one off knives will surface to the light of day? Men of good conscience come clean everyday. Heroes simply step forward. Yes they do. I vote yes.)

It would be great if the mover, employee, or whomever "misplaced" the knife would find it and return it. That would be the right thing to do for the Buck family, and for all of us.

Also, if anyone who has any pictures of Frank Buck would carefully look them, perhaps the photo of the knife would turn up after all.

These are awesome photos! Thanks for sharing them and for the education.

Thank you everyone for your interest and cooperation in this thread. I was hopeful that it would have dramatic healing and restorative power beyond words. Something akin to a rain dance of Native Americans. You can break both my legs if you like and I won't squawk if you think that I've been foolish. I will risk being foolish any day to be of aid to a BCCI member of this marquee. Particularly one that appears to my sore eyes to be a hero.

This thread has been here for a week and no photo of the San Diego museum has popped up. Does this seem odd to anyone besides myself? Why no photos he asks?

1. Is it the forum? Those in the know avoid this den of inequity.
2. Is it me? Am I on ignore.
3. Was there no museum before the Idaho museum?
4. Is there that little interest in the missing, and there are several, vintage knives?
5. Have all the parties involved died or become mute?

This story has me wondering. A BCCI member, via email, told me that they have the target knife and that Joe Houser verified it and that they have it honestly and that I will have a photo. Someone that I've never met. There exists very good reason why this story my never come to a conclusion. I need third party verification or a photo of the target and I have neither. I ask for BCCI members guidance and some respond and some do not (puzzling).

What do you see when you look at this photo without blowing it up (and I will post a blowup in a minute)?

Long shot blown up: What you probably thought you saw, eagle in eagle's nest, is actually goose in eagle's nest. Things aren't always what they seem. Even your own eyes can trick you. I try to do the right thing. Not waste my time or yours. Really.

Long shot.......yes,

O, most of the folks who may have the information you are looking for probably don't come here to this spot on Mother Earth. The rest of us have not made any comments because you have asked for very specific information and like myself, don't know the answers to your questions.

I see the attached photo's in this thread were copied from the Tom Ables book, "The Story of Buck Knives" which was copyrighted in 1991 and a great read for anyone who is a fan of the Buck knife. It's been a few years since I've read the book which most likely said Frank Buck is the one who made the first Kalinga, I did not remember or did not know that fact until reading it in the OP (thanks). I also did not even know that there was such a thing as a San Diego Buck Museum, I thought the SD shop was still small and that there would not have been room for such a thing until they built the El Cajon plant. So again, I was also hoping more folks would have added to this topic of your's. But, alas I guess like me the folks who have read this just don't know the answers to your questions.

If you do get better information from other sources like phone conversations or emails please add it here. I'm sure the little baby gosling's are not going to enjoy their first venture on terra firma as that first step out of the nest is going to be quite a surprise....lol.

Just a thought. Some well known Buck employees write for the BCCI News letter. Perhaps a request to the editor could provide some information and pics.

I ain't that old and haven't been to H_ll and beyond but I have never ever seen a photo of said request. Now, that does not mean one does not exist but someone retired from BCCI or Buck (and still living) would be the likely source. Not many folks attended the first BCCI factory meeting way back when.
If Joe is not useful, then might try L.Oden for ideas. Direct requests to some work better than general requests. How do you retire from BCCI you ask, you change channels and quit watching.

Little goose's bounce good. That's just a short jump for a Woody or a Hoodie.

I don't have anything pertinent to the topic to add other than that I'm eagerly waiting for some answers and photos as well.
