siegle kukri & previous encounter
we were back in the san gabriel river area near austin trying for white bass. this day was a skunk; whiteys can be up by the thousands one day & gone the next. we'll try again soon----dennis. sending the bois darc to a formite knife maker since its one of americas hardest wood

looks like that might be a good fishing hole, you every kill and eat one of those hogs???

siegle still cuts gum wrapper
this siegle is 5160 in 3/16 ths stock at 9.75 in. long. has'nt even been stropped after 5 0r 6 excursions which i consider to be a great cutter after all this chopping. we always wear the lanyard & i wear glasses. our buddy trey is still in cast from cutting his tendon & some nerves after throwing the ferhman final judgment at a tree which reciprocated by returning the knife to his arm. we do'nt have nice sparkling brooks in most of tex. as our buddies in canada & the northern states. we drew a blank on the 2nd try for white bass. the siegle is a great cutter but nothing like the siegle kukri.--dennis

Good Photos Dennis--

Both Siegle look good too(are you sure the bottom one is 3/16"??)

Most of his work is 1/4"

Better send it to me to confirm

:)

rat most of the hogs if less than 120 lbs & females are great eating. newbies to hogs please wear surgical gloves & watch out for the ton of ticks some carry. the smaller chopper is in 3/16 ths stock but the ergonomics are fantastic .the 9.75 in. chopper is 20 oz. opposed to the kukri at 32 oz. maybe its only a macho thing but i love the huge bite the kukri takes in wood.--dennis

Thanks for sharing your afternoon. The bark on that Osage looks almost like a cottonwood
Nice dark heartwood there makes nice knife handles? The hardest wood up this way is yew doesnt grow very big, nice for handles and such,no nice colour to it though.
