Unfortunately my phone was on low battery and died before I summited, but I did catch this gorgeous shot. Plenty of photos were taken by other members of our group, so if I can get those I'll put them up. We experienced heavy thunderstorms throughout the whole trip which made it all the more exhausting.

Regardless, it was a relatively fun trip and the thunderstorms made it all the more memorable haha.

This photo was taken roughly at 10,000 feet.

Nice. I've climbed "San G" several times, from different approaches, in summer and winter. A lot of people don't realize you can climb to almost 12,000 ft. in Southern California!

Yep haha. This is my 3rd time at San Gorgonio. I've done Mt. Baldy, San Jacinto, Baden Powel, and others I cannot recall.

We started from South Fork Trail and camped at the Dry Lake Lodgepole area. At other times we started from Vivian Creek

I still don't understand how Mt. Whitney is not Southern California.

Not to be a Dougie Downer of course ;)

I hear it is a great hike, I would like to do it sometime. Congrats on getting out there and doing it

People in California have an 'interesting' interpretation of geography. You're right that if you draw a line across the middle of the state, Whitney would be in the southern half. Then again, many people who live in the Bay Area consider themselves to be "Northern Californians," which has more to do with not wanting to be associated with L.A. as it does with actual location.

I would say SoCal is from Santa Barbara and everything South of it. I have only attempted Mt. Whitney once in a week long backpacking. I was not able to summit as one of the individuals in our group had severe elevation sickness and needed to be airlifted out so we ended the trip early.

EDIT:

It is a good hike. I usually never have issues with high elevation and can hike uphill at a relatively fast pace. Its downhill I hate as it kills my feet.

That's a beautiful shot. I remember going to that area a few times when I was a scout. I'd like to get back out there!
