Damn bear...here I come into your thread looking for more bikini shots of that honey of a hiking partner you have and all I get is a lizard and your ugly mug. What gives? ;)

Really nice outing. Great kit. Who makes that whistle/compass combo? I like that a lot. Poor lizard seems to be moving rather slowly! Or he just loves chewing on a straw in the hot summer too!! LOL

Those whistles are easy to find at any Sports Chalet, Target, Wally, or any place that has Coghlan's products. Get a few and stash them in a few different places.

Wow, great pics, but in 96 degrees? I don't like working in this stuff, not sure how you managed to do a hike in it.

And, umm, yea, that.

I agree. After being in Australia (Broome, Exmouth, Darwin) in their summer and the South Pacific for a few months, I know what hot really is and this ain't it! Did I mention that I hate the heat?

LOL!!! You young guys are crazy, doing that trail in the heat! For me, that's a winter/spring trail - when it gets this hot, I head for higher elevation.

Speaking of which, I had a nice overnight in the San Jacintos last week. An afternoon hike up Devil's Slide, past Reed's meadow, overnight near Laws, back the next morning. 20 lb pack, 11.7 lb base! Very comfortable! :D:thumbup:
