A while back I read a post and this came up as one of the best ways to improve the feel of stock grivory.

Has anyone ever done this? Stipling seems to be common but I imagine sand blasting would be alot more uniform & consistent.
Pics would be great!
Personally I'm a big fan of micarta but I dont discount the grivory at all
Lots of industrial sand blasting places around just wonder whether they'll be willing to take on such a 'small' job!

My only question would be, would bead or sand blasting have enough effect on the scales to add more grip. I'm just guessing that you are trying to improve the grip. I have worked with industrial bead blasters so I do know you could actually blow a hole through the blade if you wanted too. My point is you would have to hold the nozzle away from the scales as not to damage them so you would really just get a mild blasting of the grivory. Could be a cool experiment though.

Just glue a ton of Gummy Bears around the handle and viola, grip and comfort. Plus you have some survival food if needed. ha ha ha

Seriously though, this is interesting. My father in law has some industrial sand blasters. I don't know if I have the sack to actually do that to my new BK2

bet it could yield great results

the grivory is thin in places and and if not careful could blast through

do it and let us know, posts LOTS of pics

I considered sand blasting a while back. I took my motorcycle headers in to a local tech school and they let me use their parts sand blaster to strip it down. But I copied the stippling first shown by Wilderstrand (sp.?), and it worked fine. It would be interesting to see how they came out.
