I just got from the beach and ofcourse I managed to get sand in my spyderco tenacious. You can hear the sand grinding as you move the blade and I just wanted to know of y'all would help me out ,

Thanks

Take apart, clean, put back together. Lube to your liking and put back in pocket for some more usage. I jaded to do this every time I dive with my BM111

I know this goes against everything you may have been taught, but you need to simply get a bowl of piping hot water. Dip the knife in the water and open and close the blade, be careful you don't get cut.

Sand comes out easy.

Because the water is so hot, it dries quick, but you'll want to dry with q tips to get inside. Oil after.

I have to do this for my Swiss Army Knives, as they get some beach time also.

Run it under some warm water and work some liquid soap into the pivot. Open and close a bit and flush it out. When done shake the water out and put back in your pocket. If you are worried about the water hit the pivot with some compressed air from a compressor or a can used to clean electronic equipment. If not available WD40 was made to displace water so a quick shot of it and let it sit though none of that is really necessary. Once dry you can put a drop of oil on the pivot but I have found most of my knives don't need it and attract less dirt and lint without and just work better. Your choice though and it does depend on the knife.

They are really easy to disassemble. Just be easy on the torx screws. Turn slowly and be sure it's the proper size so the heads don't strip. You can also clean up and lightly oil the liners. I'm taking one apart today for a stone wash. I'm sure there is a DIY on Youtube.

You know those compressed air cans for cleaning out keyboards? I use that for dust and crap in my folders, you should try that

Sand? loosen pivot screw, flush with HOT water, re-tighten pivot, dry as you see fit.

Start with a few well placed blast of compressed air, then rinse/submerge in hot water, next wash with soft dish cloth or wash cloth with small amount of dawn or other liquid dish washing soap. Rinse/submerge in running hot water, dry, q-tip the tang and lock bar area and inside of handle and all interior surface areas. Finish up with a few more blast of compressed air then one drop of lube or leave it dry if that is your preferred method of operation.
