Sand paper

Where can I find some fine grit sand paper for sharpening?
I've checked my local home depot but all they have is coarse grit.
I would like to try the mouse pad sharping method but cant find any sandpaper higher then 600 grit.

Remember that mouse pad and sandpaper is for convexing.

You could also tape it onto a hard elevated surface. Then it works just like a benchstone.

I dunno about over there but the Wal-Mart here has grits up to 2000 in the auto paint section.

FWIW emory cloth works a lot better than the paper, you can get it at machine shops , auto body shop supply stores & your better auto parts stores.

it doesnt shed the sand and make a mess as fast and lasts longer.

You might try Auto Zone. The store where I live has a good selection of 3M sandpaper. I got some 2,000 grit there the other day.
