Ray,

Go to www.harborfreight.com . I got a nice top loader there including a built in light, bench top(approx. 24"wX18"deep) size for $99.00 and the shipping was free.

Alum. oxide blast media will run about $30.00 for 50 lbs. Slightly higher for glass beads.

You will also need a water filter in line to prevent making mud out of the blast media.

Hope this helps,

Gary Bradburn

I have purchased that small unit and for me it didn't acheive the results I wanted. Not enough media through the hose and not enough air pressure. I even ordered a bigger hose and it still didn't do it. Your milage may vary by what you want to acheive with it. I was going for a satin finish with ceramic beads. I have since bought a bigger unit with great results. I would let mine go for not much money but shipping to Austria would probably be expensive.

I have seen several automotive size blasters made out of a 2 or 3 foot piece of 6 inch pvc pipe. Just put a glue on cap on the bottom, and a threaded collar and cap on top, add an air inlet fitting near the top, and mount a 3/4 or 1 inch metal tube in the center of the removeable cap to go almost to the bottom of the chamber with a fitting to attach to some kind of hose and handpiece sticking out the top. Get a replacement orifice of whatever size you want, and make your hose and handpiece, or just buy a replacement factory hose and handpiece.

Hey, we ain't talking brain surgery here

ray...one thing...you need a lot of air to run a sandblaster...which means a fairly hefty compressor....one that will put out about 12 cfm.....(i think thats right) also, there are about 10 different kinds of mediums that you can use...from sand to garnet to glass beads that come in 3 or four different grades....to plastic beads...and on and on....if i were you i would email strider knives at the other forum and ask duane or mick about it...they bead blast everything and know a lot more about it than i do...tom
