I've seen the other topics like this, but none have exactly what I need. I've never blasted before.

I'm looking to get a sandblasted finish in my knife blade (love the matte metallic finish it creates) How would you guys do it?

What media?
What psi should I set my compressor?

I've included a photo of a blasted blade for what I'd like mine to look like. :)

- the finish doesn't need to be that dark.

Always, thanks for your time and sharing your info.

Glass beads provide a nice matte finish that is still smooth to the touch. Aluminum oxide and garnet are more aggressive and are better used as prep for parkerizing or cerakote type finishes.

Unless you have an abnormally large compressor, you'll need to just run it full per. Blasting is more flow intensive than pressure intensive and although pressure does dictate abrasive velocity the chances are you'll never be at full pressure anyway and will be limited by your air compressors capacity.

Thank you so much for the knowledge, guess I'll go glass bead.
