Big fun. We have a sandblasting cabinet here @ work. I don't get out back into the shop much, but I've used it to rough up a Micarta handle & take the heat-treat coloring off of a small "quick & dirty" custom tactical & have made a "Tactical Micarta Spyderco Jess Horn" by blasting the smooth Micarta scales (improves the grip 100%), blade & clip of my "shop knife" when it started getting scratched up. I wouldn't want to turn every knife I own into a so-called "Grey ****" (as referred to in some of the "tactical" vs. "pretty" knife flame wars), but it serves a purpose & hell, it's fun to put your own "mark" on a user knife.
