Bought a cheap little set up ($35) and tried it out on some painted pocket clips, a Sebenza clip, and a Mini-Lawman that had some nasty little scratches on the blade. What do you guys think? Jury is still out on durability till the get some carry time. Also made a key fob that started out as a knife lanyard. Decided I didnt want the lanyard on the knife after I made it, so used it as a fob.

It looks fantastic! The Sebenza clip looks especially good! May I ask where you purchased your set up?

Wow, that Delica clip looks really nice. Where did you get this sander?

I purchased this at Harbor Freight tools. It is a Campell Hausfeld brand. The manual says it does sand of course, glass bead ( that i have since purchased, 25 LB. container cost about 30 bucks) and some metal beads. Thanks for the kind comments. I usually polish the clips to a shiny form of finish, but the blasted finish looks pretty good IMO. Its super easy to do. And really quick. But it makes a mess (sand is everywhere) and your exposed skin gets pelted with sand. I may invest in a blast cabinet at some point, or maybe try to construct something out of stuff I have around the house. I guess what I really like is for the price of having a Sebenza reblasted, I can do multiple knives/parts.

You can use the glass or steel shot at low pressures (20-40 psi) to create a satin matte grey. Higher pressures on the glass make it shatter on impact and then it's almost as rough as sandblasting. Steel shot won't shatter, but at higher pressures you can cause warping as it peens the surface if you aren't careful.

Those look great. I have a compressor and recently found out how to simply convert it to a sandblaster, have not tried it yet but seems simple enough, will try it in future.

I have to give credit for the idea to softrockrenegade. It was his post in the CRK forum that made me want to pursue this. The only reason I would like an enclosure is to save on the cost of glass blasting material. 25lbs. is fairly expensive and goes pretty quick. I have several black coated blades that I am just itching to remove the coating. It could get costly without some sort of enclosure (unless I just opt for the play sand).

Thats cool, I haven't really looked but I also have not seen how nice a knife that is coated with DLC looks after it has been blasted.
