With G-10 being so toxic, I'm wondering if there isn't a better choice of handle material. "G10 is a fibreglas product so skin irritations from contact with glass fibres as they are ground off are understandable." Let's see, loose fibers irritate the skin like fiberglass. I imagine some are being ground off just from use. If it's toxic to the lungs, you probably wouldn't want to get it on your skin too much either. "The resin can break down over time if left out in full sunlight but will probably not break down in your lifetime indoors." So the resin also breaks down in exterior conditions. That means it is degrading if used outside alot.
I know the danger is from inhaling small glass fibers, but I'm all in favor of less toxicity if it can be avoided, especially where sweaty skin contact is involved. "Don't even cut G10 . . . without first getting proper lung protection via a good respirator." Hmmm, seems the handle would get cut sometimes in working situations. Does micarta have these issues? Personally, I didn't know this about G-10, and although skin contact with it is not a big deal, I would prefer a less toxic handle myself.
