Just to smooth the handle a little bit and to avoid holes in my pockets.

Now this knife radiates high quality. It's soft to the touch, open in a breeze, cut like a laser. Light, strong, sharp ! Not to big but big enough ! Pointy ! Full belly !
My favorite Spyderco folder so far ! (My favorite folder, period. :D)
Enjoy the pics:

Hahaha...

I totally agree. I'm always like i should carry something else, but when decision time gets around, I still always end up choosing the my CF para mil. There is just no other choice comparison right now. Maybe if I picked up like a lefty hinderer or something. haha its either an izula or my sprint paramil on me at all times

My Izula has been kicked by my Hest which has been kicked by my BushcraftUK G10... The handle is so confortable for hard and long use.
The G10 Bushcrafter and the Paramillie make a great pair for a walk in the forest !

Looks very good (and a bit tempting... :D ) Nemo!

Details please! :D

Did you only sand the edges or also the flats? What grids did you use?

I am very interested to know how you like the steel in day to day use. How much effort does it take to maintain a fine edge?

Cheers,
JD

Hi JD.

I have sanded it very lightly with a 600 grit black sandpaper.
Just to smooth the surface and the corners without ruining the CF patterns.
It was very light compared to the G10 version where I wanted to get a very soft result. 5 minutes.

I have found the Paramillie is not so trouser friendly when carried tip down as the hump is filing the pocket at each extraction. SO I carry it now tip up in the right front pocket and I have even made a little lanyard ! I misse the spyderdrop opening but S90V seems impossible to smooth with my hand tools so far. And I dont want make a mess of it.

S90V is really an amazing stuff. As you know my EDC knife is used in the kitchen for preparing the meal and also to eat in the plate.
Since I got that knife, I only used some stropping on leather and on cardboard.
This is really a cardboard eater !
I was not able to polish the blade but just a bit. I would need more time and better equipment than only elbow grease. S90V is really some hard stuff.

The CD Paramillie 2 is just an extraordinary EDC knife. I even think the CF slabs are a little thicker than on the G10 version. The knife light, fast and so strong. So pointy and so belly, nothing resist to that blade as far as I have used it yet.
Really Eric has made his homework on improving Sal design.
The more I use this knife, the more I grin.

S90V ads a legendary edge retention to an already great package.
This is the first time I'm glade to use CPM420V. Ten years ago, on my previous experiences with custom makers, it was really a bear to sharpen. The steel felt like "dead". Impossible to polish or to get sharp.
Now I need to dull that Paramillie to test my ability to get it back to razor.
But so far so good, some stropping seems enough to keep it very high on my sharpness scale ! :-)
I got plenty of diamonds and and ceramic waiting at any sign of losing its excellence in sharpness ! ;)

I pair it with the great Bushcrafter which can take care of hardest works with a unearthly ergonomy ! Both knives are great to pack for a walk in the wild and they form a great team with a wide range of use.
The needle blade of the Paramillie makes wonder when the sturdy sharp blade of the bushcrafter is batonned with ease.

Both knives are "oozing" quality and craftmanship ! They are going to be used for a long time.
(As you know my previous CPM EDC is a plain edge Starmate used for a decade with no problem and a joy on edge retention. I will picture it soon for my blog next to my father M2 AFCK ...)

Erase and rewind, caus' I've been changing my mind !

It took me 45 minutes with a diamond file to smooth the humb.
Now I have removed the lanyard and I'm back in tip down carrying and Spyderdropping!
Which is IMHO the most elegant way to open a folding knife.

S90V is really hard to file even with diamond........ But I'm happy with result !

Thanks you for the extensive explanation Nemo! I like your modifications a lot. The follow my own ideas that a handle should be kind to the hand, no sharp edges.

For the last few knives I have carried it was done mostly tip up. This works well for me with small (around "3 blade length) folders. There was one knife that was a bit of a rebel. A Byrd knife that I carried iwb just preferred to be Spyder dropped for some obscure reason...

Enjoy the Para2 that has now really become yours!

Hi Nemo. I sanded mine as well, was reading the forum and noticed your thread. Nice job! I did mine a little different than yours, and contoured a few of the edges.

The blade in this pic looks bad - it is not patina'd like that, it is the effect on the photo to see the sanding.
