Sanding grooves when refinishing handles

Found a neat way to sand those pesky grooves in the handles. At work we have Mitchell's Emery Cord for sanding grooves and slots in machine parts. It is basically an abrasive coated string that comes in different sizes. While it clogs up fairly quickly when sanding wood, it works better than anything I've found so far. We buy it locally from an industrial supply house, but I've found it online at
McMaster-Carr

Just search for sanding cord. It runs $10-12 per 50 foot roll. I would get the aluminum oxide.

Keep on woodchucking. :)

Thanks for the tip, Fergus...
THat stuff would work wonders for detailing grooves in blade backs too, like filework...jimping.

THanks!

hey mate just thought i would let you know cos every time i see it posted it irritates me that the saying isant correct it reads.

Kaphar hunno bhanda marnu ramro
"It is better to die than be a coward.

IT SHOULD BE

Kaphar hunno bhanda marnu ramro
"Better dead than a live coward" not trying to be funny or anything just that it bugs me every time i see it posted wrong.regards ghorka:) :) :) :)

Thanks ghorka,
I worried when I put that as my signature line that it might be wrong. I got it from the book "The Gurkhas" by Byron Farwell. Thanks for setting me straight.:)

Prior to "Kaphar hunno bhanda marnu ramro " it was "Gorakh Nathko Jay"...if you can figure that one out, you can help write the book.

It's a salute to some old God who lives in a temple up in Gorkha. A more modern version is "Jaya Nepal!"
