i have ordered a brand spanking new 880 tanto point and have read taht some people have found the g10 to be a tad to hard on jeans etc. i was wondering if anyone has a system for sanding the g10 down a bit, i own a dremel and have seen those suggested for use but anyone have an alternative? (not sure i can keep my hand grip steady for that long in case i do have to sand)

thanks for your help!

I just used some 220-grit on the flats and 400-grit on the chamfers.

You don't need to sand very much to take the bite off the G10 but keep a little texture so it's not too smooth.

Keep in mind that G10 dust is highly toxic to breathe, and it feels nasty when the fibreglass gets into your skin.

You should consider: 1- use a respirator 2- gloves 3- outdoors 4- under running water.

What biogon said.

When I have to sand G10, I fill up the kitchen sink and do all the sanding under water.

thanks guys, i was unaware that G10 was majorly toxic!ill definetly use a resp. or do it underwater in the kitchen sink hehe... thank you guys for posting!

You might find the new version Striders have a much better G-10 texture and you won't need to sand it.. :)

I think you will be pleased. Both with the G-10 and the overall mechanics..
