Anyone else here tried using sandpaper on their Victorinox nylon scales? I mean the cheaper Ecoline nylon scales on the 91mm knives?

I used sandpaper on mine because I wanted to remove some of the deeper scratches on the scale, and I was surprised. I prefer the resulting texture of the scales. Gone is the matted and a bit slippery finish of the nylon handles. It felt a bit rubbery now and very grippy. I actually really like it.

Anyone else tried this on their scales?

I've never sanded the nylon scales, but I have taken some sandpaper to the red cellidor scales to make it grip better when cold and/or wet. I like them roughed up a bit.

Sanding the nylon, in my experience makes it grippy when dry and really really grippy when wet. It was kind of a good surprise. Also somewhat removes that sort of "cheap" look to the matte finish. Makes it look closer to the soft-touch Vics.

yes i once sanded my 84mm nylon sportsman eco line... its a user in my toolbox so i dont really baby and care for the looks, but the texture is quite nice.. havent been able to make it pretty , but its functional..

Try using stainless steel polish on the scales after you sand them. That's what I did and it looks real nice now, while maintaining the soft touch grippy feel.
