For those if you with experience using sandpaper to sharpen knives, which grit do you use for fast steel removal when re-profiling the knife?

Is there a recommended brand that seems to work the best?

I use 120 as a normal re-profiling paper. I prefer it to stones as I don't use it very often. At times I've used 80 for larger blades. I'm not aware of the brands, as long as it's wet/dry paper.

We have one major supplier, but do get others. M3. I used 80grit to reprofile a machete and my first (poor) attempt at a knife. Now I just maintain at 1000grit and 1200grit wet/dry.
