Sandton Show

Having just spent last week in Sandton with tie and shiny shoes for our office presentations I returned with flu and a provisional summons to return for this Wednesday.....................


My company flat happens to be very near where the South African Guild show will be on this coming weekend in Sandton.

So hold thumbs so that I can get head office to cover my whole trip (apart from new knives, if I eat very little of my living out allowance, well.......).

Newbie to BladeForums here. Actually joined to learn how to sharpen knives properly but I am interested in knives. Nice to see somebody from my neck of the woods ( well, more or less, I'm in Jhb) Any idea how many of us from the southern tip here on Bladeforums ?

Hi Bush Baby. I managed to trundle into J'burg this last weekend. I didn't think I was going to pull it all off. My office called 8.30am asking for me to be in Sandton at 3pm for an emergency meeting. Drove 400km in short order to find the head office had decided to call off Friday afternoon and all headed off for a Braai. I was terribly narked but I did get them to pay for my stay and trip.

The knife show had only one dissapointing knife maker but all the rest varied from very good to outstanding. Excellent crowd of people. Bought some micarta, stainless disks for making hilts and pin material.

On this forum there are only a couple to a handful from the south of Africa on this forum although there is a very strong guild in South Africa and a considerable knife interest.
