I am purely a beginner at learning about different metals used in knife making. I have one BRKT Mini North Star in 12C27 and thinking of buying a BRKT Gunny in 13C26. The MNS is keeping a great edge. Can I expect the same from the Gunny? Probably, right? What is the alpha-numeric significance of these names? Thanks.

Theoretically 13C26 should have bette redge holding, due to higher carbon content, but the difference is not very big, just 0.08%...
Here, compare yourself - 13C26 vs. 12C27 steel composition comparison.
Anyway, 13C26 will be at least as good as your 12C27, slightly better in edge holding and a little less in terms of stain resistance, but I figure the differences will be very subtle.

A very interesting site. I'm on the way to becoming a metallurgist already. I can feel it. :D
