Sandvik CR1227 ?

I have a Browning Bird and Trout knife that has become one of my favorite hunting and game processing tools. Browning states the steel is Sandvick CR1227. I have googled the steel and all I get is references to the knife. It makes me wonder whether that is just a Browning marketing name.

Can anyone point me toward more information about the steel?

Sandvik doesn't have that steel listed on their site. Here's a list of datasheets for the various steels Sandvik makes.

My guess is they meant Sandvik 12C27. Someone probably typed it wrong once, and it was copied & pasted into product catalogs, retail listings, etc.
