Sandvik steels - who's using it?

What companies - besides Kershaw and the various Mora makers - are using Sandvik steel?

(Production, not custom, companies.)

Interesting question. The first place I'd look would be Europe, of course. Victorinox and Wenger may be using them.

French companies manufacturing Laguioles use 12C27 as their high end steel, replacing 440A.

Sweden's EKA knives use 12C27.

Fallkniven knives are manufactured in Japan and generally use VG-10, sometimes laminated.

Kershaw just changed to their new sandvik 14C28N, which they claim has even better qualities than the previous 13C26. I think all of their knives starting from 2009 that are described with sandvik steel are made from 14C28N.

I got this info from their 2009 catalog. I don’t really know much about the properties of the steel, but a significant difference in 14C28N is the use of nitrogen.

Another company that I know of that uses sandvik 12c27 is Brusletto of Norway. The make really nice scandi blades.

Spyderco will be using some in the future. What and how much more than the "bug" will remain to be seen.

Sal G.:
We are using a 3Cr in our small "bug" model and will until we can get some 12C27 shipped into China for the "bug" models.

Sandvik has an office in China now. I know one office is in ShenZhen but they will deliver to any place.

I am in yangjiang. guangdong china and i see their steel here for special customers. So if in the future they have Sandvik steel and you think the knives are made not made in china. think again. anything is possible.

it could be made here in china.

the company where i saw the this steel at was making traditional folders like case xx. but not case xx just the style.add

Hi, Actually it's in Guangzhou for knife steel. We have a bunch of other operations in China also for steel, machine tools and mining equipment.

Sandvik steel, mainly 12C27 is available in China and we have focused the higher-end makers for the domestic and export sides.

For the brand list:
Browning, CRKT (I think it's in their catalogue), Cutco, Opinel, Fantoni, Kizlyar, Tramontina.

Wenger and Victorinox (same company/owner) do NOT use Sandvik steels.
