Is it the best budget folder right now??.....Only 10 bucks and comes razor sharp out of the box with a great looking blade profile and solidly built construction????

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 710 soon because honestly I haven't heard anything bad about this knife and it makes the Spyderco Tenacious not even look like a budget knife,LOL. The Tenacious cost maybe 40 dollars right now, that doesn't really seem like a good budget price when the Sanrenmu 710 has the exact same steal.

So how does the SRM 710 compare to other budget knives?, I know the Byrd Cara Cara 2 is around 20 dollars and Tenacious is 40 dollars and all three of these knives have the exact same steal and probably made in the same factory.....The Ontario Rat 1 is 30 dollars....I know the 710 doesn't have G10 scales or any other bells and whistles and no super grippy handles, it's just a basic knife that does what it was intended for, cutting things....So instead of buying one Tenacious I could buy four SRM 710's for the same price and they do the exact same thing a Tenacious does and probably better?

A couple years ago I didn't really like the 710, but it's kind of grown on me now after seeing a lot of good reviews.

This subject again ?

If you really like the 710, do yourself a huge favor and buy a real one from Benchmade. Not a $10 knife made by a company that only copies/steals others designs....
Or if you really don't want to spend much, but a $20 Byrd, or a $30 Ontario. Both are good knives made by reputable companies.

But then again, for $50 you could get a couple of the fake 710's, and a couple fake Hinderer knives. I would bet for an extra $20 you could even get a nice Rolex...That would be something to really be proud of

Benchmade doesn't make any knives that look like a SRM 710.

I already have the Ontario Rat 1 and Cara Cara 2....I was thinking about picking up a Tenacious but it's overpriced at 40 dollars when the 710 has the exact same steal....to be honest the 710 has better looking blade profile then the funny Tenacious.

I don't wear jewelry, so I think the Rolex would be out of the question.

I don't see anything wrong with buying a 710 for 10 bucks and it's probably better than a funny ass Tenacious that is also made in a china factory.

Sounds to me like you already have your mind made up. Good deal, enjoy your new 710.

The Sanrenmu 710 is a knock off of a Chris Reeve Sebenza, if anything. It just shares the name with the BM710.

You're joking, right? The Benchmade 710 has been around for decades. It is an iconic knife, and is the real 710. The Sanrenmu is cheap junk. Maybe I read it wrong, or maybe you added the "SRM" in, but either way why do you want a cheap copy of anything? You really wanna put your trust in that?

I'd rather spend $35 on Kershaw Zing or Skyline. Much better in every regard, JMO.

Never got a chance to play with the Skyline but have the tanto Zing, and a Rat 2, as well as a Rat 1. I actually find myself carrying all three more often than anything else. The Rats are probably the perfect EDC work knives if you're afraid of losing or breaking something more expensive.

with that $35 I could buy three SRM-710s that will probably last longer than one of the china made kershaw knives I had that already failed on me.

Or you could buu an Opinel, a Mora, and a Svord Peasant and have some real knives by trusted makers. What steel is that SRM? Does it have a warranty? For that money it doesn't hurt to try one out, but it isn't going to shock and amaze you. Why not save for a knife with great steel and materials?

Or you could buy a cheap $3.99 knife from a gas station counter near the register. I mean, as long as we're using the "Well, I could spend $XX and get this much performance" logic.

I would consider an Opinel or Svord Peasant if I was intending on only using my pocket knives to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

Which shows ignorance, as both of those are excellent EDC knives. Just saying. And those are both better knives than your $10 wonder Sanrenmu.

those two knives don't really have a pocket clip that I could clip on to my pocket and use it at work. the SRM710 also has a pretty good lock up for a 10 dollar knife.

I don't get the logic there. I guarantee they'll work harder, last longer, and hold and edge longer than the SRM, and they're also trustworthy. The Opinel also has a better lock. The steel is better, both the carbon (Svord is L6 I believe), and the stainless. Definitely getting more than what you pay for with these workhorses.

Kershaw offers better things in the range you're looking at. Shop around online. Not all of their cheaper products are made in China, and KershawGuy has some pretty sweet blems that fall into your price range. You'd be doing yourself a favor by going with a company that has made a name for itself.

Not saying the SRM isn't ok, just saying I don't find it trustworthy. I like my knives either cheap and reliable, or expensive and efficient. I just don't think SRM falls into those categories.

Seeing how srm at one time, and maybe still do make some of the spyderco chinese made knives, and sal the man himself said and I am paraphrasing........srm was a serious knife company.......also to be noted a few other of the american big names have and do use srm to make stuff for them......so quality is not an issue.

As for all the other reasons......valid complaints and reasons. Too each their own.
