sanrenmu are a chinese folding knife company who are generally unheard of over here in the west but there are rumours they make knives for spyderco, buck and other companies (whether that's true or not i don't know). a while ago i bought a SRM 730 i believe it to be and i absolutely loved it fast deployment, tight lock up and very sharp. i just wanted to know what are your opinions on them?

Sanrenmu make good, budget knives, worth probably twice what you pay for them.

I think they make the Tenacious range for Spyderco.

Oh boy, here we go.

Sanrenmu makes decent knives for what they cost. There have been heated discussions about them here because many of their knives are quite similar to other manufacturers' knives.

To complicate matters, they are not "counterfeits" professing to be that knife and being perfectly identical. Maybe "knockoffs". I'm going to complicate matters even further and say I own one of their knives which isn't a knockoff of anything but a scalpel. Still supported the company to buy it, I guess.

*I personally have no opinion.* I'm kinda glad most of their stuff is "tactical" which I don't buy much of.

Decent $12 knives, but I felt like a chump paying $40 for a Tenacious and feel sorry for those who bought a Benchmade Vex at that cost.

I'm happy with my 930 for $12, but if I could go back I'd have bought something else. Sanrenmu cooks their blades and treats 8CR a bit too hard in my opinion.

They are a decent knife but the hardware sucks. For the money good buys and at least they arent making full on counterfeits.

I like them. I rarely use them now. They actually helped kickstart my knife collecting. Sanrenmu, Ganzo, Enlan, etc were all affordable options. The more I got (cheaply) the more I wanted. I was able to hone my preferences where I wouldn't lose a lot of money on a bad buy. Then I started buying all of the popular models from various makers. Ka-Bar dozier. Ontario Utilitac. I then moved on to buy more kershaws (Blur, Leek, etc) and spydercos (tenacious, delica and dragonflies). I sold some of the earlier purchases to buy some of the later stuff. As my collection continued to grow, the spydercos were accompanied with Benchmades and nicer spydercos.

I still haves some sanrenmus in places that may get lost (the ZB4-T21 is always in the car). And I still have some other chinese starter knives, but the bulk of my collection consists of BM and Spyderco.

I see why some people get very upset by the copying of styles, but ultimately I ended up buying more nice knives that I ever would have had I not started with the inexpensive options out of China. Some of their models are a great value. Some others not so much.

They are very well made knives, not just for the money, genuine well made knives. I own a lot of them and find them excellent.
The slightly more upmarket Real Steel share designs and designers with SanRenMu and use some 12C27 Sandvik steel as well as the more common 8Cr13MoV both of which are adequate for EDC and sharpen easily.
Spyderco's are held in high regard and I believe that the Bug, Honeybee, Grasshopper, Kiwi3, Clipitools, Ambitious, Persistance, Tenacious and Resilience are made in SanRenMu plants.
Just excellent knives.

They're good to have if someone that you haven't seen use a knife wants to borrow one. You won't feel as bad if the edge of a $12 knife gets dinged up as your $100 knife.

I have a few. In general, they're pretty well made and very serviceable knives. The SRM-763 is probably my favorite of the ones I've had. The SRM-710 is also fairly popular.
