I just got one of these. Mine are hex, not torx. Four small ones and a slightly larger one for the pivot. I had to loosen the pivot to get the action smoothed out, but I don't know the size of the hex I used because mine is not marked. (At first I thought I had stripped the hex nut, but turns out it was simply turning freely.)
I got this knife because I love the Benchmade Axis 805 that I've had for many years, and I just had to see what Sanrenmu could do with the Axis lock, since their 710 model is so great (I have three). The 763 also turns out to be a fine little knife (especially at the price I paid).
But there is one rather large design flaw that seriously affects opening the knife. There is no cutaway space for your thumbnail to gain purchase on the thumb stud. I fixed this today with some Dremel work (using one of the Dremel drum sanders), grinding out a small curved space on the side that I use – and NOW I can say it really is a fine little knife. Flips open as easily as the 710 model (after the pivot is adjusted).
Photo #1 – the other side, showing the straight edge that needs to be altered (on whichever side you need)
Photo #2 & 3 – after completion of the Dremel work. It didn't require much removal of material to do the job.
Photo #4 – shows a small slot, which leads to the innards of the axis mechanism. No problem unless you grind out too much. I could have gone a little bit further without any problem.
Photo #5 – the finished knife. I really like the blade shape. Also, there is "jimping" on the underside of the handle, something I've never seen before. On a small knife like this, it does help provide a more secure grip.
I don't know how to anodize aluminum, so I used a black permanent marker to cover the newly exposed aluminum, not exactly a professional job, but better than nothing I suppose.
