Santa Fe Stoneworks

I got a Santa Fe Stoneworks folder inlaid with turquoise from my girlfriends family for Christmas. It's actually decently made but I have no idea what steel it uses. I like it for its sentimental value and carry it when I dress up.

I know that they do beautiful inlay (and overlay, I guess you'd call it) work, but I don't have any experience with their "Santa Fe Stoneworks" branded knives.

I just emailed the company to ask about the house-branded knives and I got the following info: "The knives (we call them skeletons as they are just assembled without any finish work) are assembled by Mitsuboshi Cutlery of Seki City Japan." They also said that the regular blades use 440C while the damascus blades are "VG-10 with 16 layers on either side of SUS410 stainless for a 33 Layers stainless steel Damascus blade."

I don't know anything about Mitsuboshi Cutlery, but they might very well do great OEM work.

I don't know much about the quality of their current in-house cutlery, but I can vouch for the company as a company. Reliable and honest. Their craftsmanship with the materials is excellent as well.
You can even buy in person the next time you're driving through Santa Fe. Their showroom/office isn't far off the interstate. :thumbup:
 
I don't know if you know this but all the knives I've seen only have custom work on one scale.

What's annoying is that I lived literally seven minutes from them for two years and didn't know they existed. It's only after I left the state that I found out about them!
 
Hi all,

I just found a small fixed blade (8" OAL with about a 4" blade) SANTA FE STONEWORKS Knife at a Thrift Shop here in Maine. One handle side of this "full tang" knife is missing it's Wood slab.
Regardless, I could not pass up this knife for FIFTY cents! It has a rather thin blade (which I like). I'm going to attempt to "Para Cord" wrap the handle, sharpen this lil' knife and call it good.
I think (once sharpened) it'll make a nice lil' handy blade for "Car, Bag, etc."
