I'm a gonna get flamed for this, but hey, life is short...

I'm extremely impressed with my new SAR-3, but I can't help wish there was a little more room on the handle. As aesthetically pleasing as the talon hole is to look at, I would personally love to see that space used for a forward finger choil. Will assassins show up at my house if I mod my Busse into something close to this?

Come on, admit it, a forward finger choil on this little gem would be nice. Okay, I'm ready...fire...
 
You wouldn't be the first to do it. It is a fairly common modification interest, in my opinion. Have fun! If you search, there are pictures of a Sar-4 someone modded like this somewhere in the last 5 months. Enjoy!
 
No flame here... Mebbe there will be a HACK SAR3 version sometime in the future. ;) Some of my favorite Busse's are HACKs... The HACK Warden, the HACKer Street, and the newest one to arrive yesterday... the HACKtive Duty! All have a nice choil where the talon hole usually is.

And, hey...it's your knife, do whatever you need to to make it fit you better! (and then post PIX!) ;):thumbup:

Nice!! I figured I wasn't the first to think about this sort of thing. Those SAR4 pics look awesome, although with the SAR-3 I would be tempted to leave more steel sticking out behind the choil I think, at least for a start.

Say, is there a way to attempt this sort of mod without powertools? Will hacksaw's and files hold any sway with INFI? Its hard to imagine. I'm going to get some table-top power-tools before too long but I don't have anywhere to use them right now. Maybe I should pop over to the tinkering forum and ask around. Cheers guys :thumbup:
 
I would not attempt it without power tools. INFI is a tough b***h to grind. AFAIK the folks who have cut in a choil use a drum sander or a dremel tool.
 
You won't get flamed for modifying your knife. If you criticize the Busse design aesthetic you may get flamed.

HACKtive Duty!?! What does this one look like? And how did you just score it, if you don't mind me asking?

Hey, the Busse aesthetic is the reason I noticed them in the first place. It is the INFI, beautiful designs, flawless construction, on top of the aesthetic that got me to finally buy one. Ima have to look into the HACKs. Might have to buy another SAR-3 too if more come up...and a dremel!

Btw, any guesses on whether more SAR-3's will be released? Was black paper the finale? Such a nice little knife.. :thumbup:
 
Iam with ya on the choil. How much will it devalue the knife though? If i knew it
wouldnt kill the value i would chuck up a carbide endmill and choil it tonight..
Let me know what yall think and ill take pics as iam doing it..!!

Here's my "HACKer street"... it is DA BOMB! :eek: 4 inches of choil-less INFI goodness! :cool:

It has a shorter blade than this one. Your only hope at this point is the exchange... they pop up now and again. :)

I think you should do it anyway! Shizer, I'll buy it from you if you do a good job:) (Please double check with me before assuming that's true, btw, although it could be). Or we could trade. What handle color do you have?

Wow that's sweet...

Edit: I just looked at that pic for about the 10th time in as many minutes. That looks like a near perfect outdoor utility and camp knife. Must....resist....checking exchange every 2 minutes until I find one.... :)

heeheee... yeah... it is as close to perfection as any knife I have. Feels like an sixth finger in my hand.

There gonna have to bury me with that one... and my NMSFNO... and Sar5. Of course I'm really loving the Sar3 too. OH... and the BAD. And I'd be remiss if I didn't include my beloved NMFBM.... :cool: yeah... I have issues... :rolleyes: :D

Reminds me alot of the Vex. ;)
 
I'm with you on this. I really want to choke up on my SAR3 just like I do on my Vex, which is about perfect in its simplicity of design.

There will be more. skunk has already shown a sneak pic of satin/black micarta version is a sheath.
