SAR-3 Leather Sheath

Hi,

I found exactly what I was looking for in an EDC blade with the SAR-3. I needed a sheath and didn't care for the typical bush style sheaths and I'm not a big fan of Kydex. So, I decided to build a hidden belt loop style. The knife fits great and sits very tight to my hip which is exactly what I was looking for. I typically build leather concealment holsters for firearms and gun belts but decided I might try my hand with this sheath.

Just thought I'd post this here to see what you guys think, whether good or bad.

Great idea. Very nice design. Looks well made. I'm not fond of wearing a knife on my belt for everyday carry, but that could change my mind. Thanks. Mike

Looks well thought out and rather unique, I like it! :)

I'd love to see more pics of it if you get the time.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll try and take more pics of the set up. I'm not much of a photographer so it takes a few tries to get something that looks presentable. Or at least in the same ballpark as some of you guys. I have a brown one I'm working on and will get pics of that too.

I can do a horizontal carry sheath. Maybe I'll give it a shot and include pics of it as well.

Thanks again!

P.S. I'm trying to stay away from designs that the guys here already do so well and hopefully be able to incorporate some of the characteristics of the gun rigs I build.:)

these knife sheaths remind me of the pancake style holster that I carried my duty weapon in, the SW Model 65-2 .357 for years and I liked the way that it tilted forward for easy access. the sheaths look really nice and would not move around on your belt. I would like it with the tilt forward versus the horizontal.

Dan,
That SAR3 looks great in your leather. Maybe I should have kept it and had you make the pants.
