Just some eye candy. In the SAR-3 lineup, I think this DC Tan Canvas is about as good as it gets. The tan pairs well with the flavor of the doublecut.

With SAR-3 SE Satin Red/Black G10.
 
Very nice. And, I imagine that the handles are the least sharp among the SAR-3s. I am hoping that mine shows up in today's mail.

W.T., I'm guessing that the canvassy texture is less likely to hold a sharp edge as compared to the G10. I did a little taste test on the two with my thumb, and I do think the canvas has a slightly less-sharp feel to it.

The finer the handle material, the sharper the machined ridges tend to be. Canvas Micarta is the coarsest of the handle materials, and G-10 seems to be the finest. Those who have SAR-3s with G-10 handles know what I mean when I say that the ridges are a bit on the sharp side, but not enough to really bother me.

I really REALLY love the color combo and think it might be my favorite right behind tan/bama clay... what a gorgeous looking knife!

On the sharpness of the handles - this is the sharpest micarta I've ever felt and will definitely be sanding it down some especially on the front and rear edges by the talon and lanyard hole.

I'm glad I finally got a SAR3 and held out for this color - I was a big critic when they first came out, but so far I think I'm liking it more than my old GW or AD for edc... its pretty flat and compact and the blade shape is great - nice and pointy too. Might be one of the sharpest factory fresh Busses I've received as well...

Out of the Red g10, B&T g10, and the Tan Micarta; I can't decide
which one I like the best....

I like them all.... The DC blade is just perdy.... :D
 
That's odd what you say about the sharpness of handle materials - my SAR-3 LE with its tigerhide micarta handle felt sharper than my BP SAR-3, at least until I sanded the edges down a bit; and the handles on my Red G-10 SAR-3 felt the least sharper of the three.
 
There may be some variation from knife to knife as well, irrespective of handle material, because we all know that Mr. Jerry whittles these by hand throughout the wee hours of the night.
 
Well, hopefully I'll find out later today, if my DC + Tan Canvas Micarta SAR-3 came in today's mail. I never bought an LE, but did notice that the Satin + Black Paper Micarta version felt less sharp than any of my ones with G-10 handles.
 
Mine arrived today as well. Got my first dogtag, too. ;)

The ridges on mine are VERY sharp... sharper than those that were on my SAR8 (which was black/green G10). They will absolutely be getting sanded down.

Also, the edge doesn't look convexed to me. Looks very flat... I think I'll probably sharpen it on the Edgepro so I don't screw up the DC finish with sandpaper.

There is a little bit of staining on the back of the spine in the handle though. :(
 
Very nice Powernoodle, So is the Sar-3 smaller than the Skelly. I've not gotten around to getting or handling a sar-3 as of yet.
 
Damn! That is a very sharp looking combo! Shoulda pulled the trigger on one. Great Pics!
 
Mine arrived today, along with some Skunk Junk. At least for me, the handles feel less "sharp" than the ones with G-10 handles. The difference is subtle, but I can notice it.
 
Got mine in the mail today as well so they are definately hitting the east coast already. I'm still a little undecided about this one. Keep going back to my AD, feels better in my hand than the SAR3
