I have had my Sar-4 for a few weeks, it has not seen any real use yet, still waiting on some pants. The question that I have is, since this is my first satin Busse, what do I have to do to keep her pristine?

I don't want her to rust, and wiped her down with rig when I first received her, just wondering.

I plan on using the heck out of this one, mostly on the river and edc in my truck.

What do you recommend to keep her shiny?

I lick off my BAD after every use, then rub it on my pants. No rust so far, although it tastes kind of nasty after cutting up trout.

With the satin blades, just wipe them down and make sure they don't stay damp. An oil rubdown is your best option to stay rust-free.

Just keep an oily rag in a Ziplock. Let that be your knife rag. Wipe down the SAR4 after each use.

Also, Tuff Glide is good stuff. If you're in or near water a lot, try some of the Marine Tuff Glide.

As I've posted in other threads here, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser pads are fantastic for cleaning the blade. If you've got residue, scuffs, etc., just run some warm water over the blade and rub it with a Magic Eraser pad. It really is amazing how much more easily stuff comes off with the Magic Eraser as compared to a soapy dishtowel. I use the pads on all my Busses, even the coated ones.

Then I dry them off and let them air dry some more before a little coat of whatever oil is handy. Usually mineral oil, RemOil, or CLP.

Ok I am whining.. I bought my first SAR4 in the first few seconds they showed at the company store just like a lot of you and I also bought the last one that was for sale at the company store as they came to an end....I saw Lunde's pictures 10 seconds after they went on sale and IM STILL WAITING FOR MINE!!!!!!!!! ARGGGGGGHH......:grumpy::(

ok i'm done now. :o:foot:

:D

That's weird. I got an extra knife. I though it was just Skunk junk, but now, I wonder...

I have never used oil on my infi yet. No rust, no nothing. I just don't have a problem with it.

+2 on the magic eraser. They work great on all my infi, coated or no. Gets off sap, dirt, scuffs etc.

I'll 2nd using mineral oil on any blade that touches food. As to Mr Glanzer's lament, since they're made in the U.S. of A. and you're a resident of the Great White North, do you suppose that your SAR 4s are hung up in Customs?

Nah I know they'll get here im just playing. I just want them to rust here in Canada not down there....:foot::D

To clean it, warm water an soap, or simple green.
I use breakfree to wipe it down after.

A light coating of any gun oil will keep your blades problem free,,, I use Hoppes9 , especially on my Damascus blades. and the Busse slabs are immune to the oil,,,,,,won't harm them wotsoeva !!!!!!!! It will make the colors pop, gr8 4 photography .

The only infi knives I have had any issue of rust with is the competition finish Hell Razor I have which Jerry says is from decarb, that one I keep I light coat of mineral oil on.On the satin and DC ones as long as you keep them dry I haven't had an issue.

Thanks folks!! I appreciate all of the advice. The thing with the magic eraser is a new one on me, as far as knives go, we use those things all the time in the kitchen around here. I wonder if they would work on aluminum wheels?

Thanks again. I cant wait to get some pants for this beauty, so I can put her to work!!

PS : Hey KG, I am also a big fan of that instant gratification, but trust me, this one is worth waiting for.
