Ok guy's I got the SAR-5 in the mail last Thur. So Sat. Eve. I had the chance to get out in the back yard & try it out for a few minutes.
First off the Digi Camo Kydex Sheat is awsome ! Notice how it blends in with the rock-

The knife fits snug into the sheath & rides great on my belt !

The Handle material is Green Micarta w/Yellow G10 spacers, the handle fits my hand pretty good ! It has 2 hollow pins & a Glass Breaker w/ lanyard hole.

I wear an XL in Gloves so you can get an idea of the size -

The Blade is 5 1/5" of 1095 & 3/16" thick, Plenty of length to do most basic W&SS jobs & thick enough to not worry about breaking-

I batoned it thru some dried out Hickory with no problems -

After that the SAR-5 would still make curles & shave hair w/ no problems -

I will be doing another review of this knife when I take it camping here shortley...so far its a winner !

Nice review!

Thats a nice looking knife that will no doubt serve you well brother.

Great stuff buddy ! Although totally different shape the dimensions are close to my Booshway. I find that a blade around that size outta 3/16" stock is pretty much big enough for anything and yet still small enough to tackle the more detailed tasks.

I could quite easily get rid of all my knives and manage just fine with the Booshway......but never, ever let my wife know that !!!!;)

Ok...I've had this knife for a week now & so far it's a keeper  Today I went to my parents house to help my little brother cut some trees off the property & that gave me a chance to play..er test the SAR5 some more :D I wore it on my belt all day & it felt pretty good on my side, even while I was sitting down or riding in the truck. I did some cutting/chopping & the knife did fine & I took my leather strope to it this eve. & it's back to shaving sharp! No problems with the knife so far, no chips or rolled edges, it has held up perfect ! More test to come ! Sorry I didn'tget any pics, I was to busy helping my Bro. :o

Mark-

Would you mind sharing your heat treating/tempering process for 1095? I'm curious to learn more about your knives and techniques.

PB, check the Question for Mark thread... I explain alot of what I do there, If you need more answers after looking at that thread, I will try to answer. If I get started here, I will never stop, Heat treat is my SOAPBOX... lol :D
