Got some funds for my next piece of INFI and don't know wether to go for a SAR 6, Boss Street or maybe even something bigger !!

What are your thoughts fellas

Well It seems this question and comparison comes up a lot, and I love to offer my opinion because I have both. What I think is this: They are virtually the same knife with equal ability at any task. The difference in a nutshell is the chopabilty/weight of the SAR6. Do you want to be able to chop if you had to? Or would you prefer the same knife significantly lighter in the Boss Jack. (I'm using a stripped boss jack to compare, as it most closely resembles a full convex SAR6)

Both of course...

If only one, SAR-6 - best mid-sized knife ever made, IMHO.

What are you going to use it for?

Either way; utility or chopping, I would get the SAR-6 tho... (BJ is probably the better utility but the SAR isn't far behind and can do more.)

I was on the fence about getting another BJ-LE or SAR-6 for a mid-sized user and went with the SAR... then I bought another one. SAR-6, SAR-6, SAR-6... :)

Well, the SAR-6 IS over 100 bucks more expensive, but if I had those readily available I would probably go for the SAR-6 as well, due to the above menioned reasons (chopping). I love my Boss Jack and wouldnt want to be without it though. I'm thinking it will fit neatly in when I get a big chopper sometime in the future.

I've got both and if I could only have one it would be the SAR-6 with no hesitation. It's my absolute favorite mid-sized knife.

I also have both, for woods use and camping its my SAR 6 hands down, if i was going into combat my Boss Jack would be on my belt. Best bet is to just get both and check it out for yourself, ha ha, you might as well be broke like the rest of us!

What is the blade height and grind on the SAR-6? I know theyre the same length and thickness. Just got my BJ and considering the 6 as i want a larger blade for a chopper But if the blade is similar size then I will look to a larger blade for my chopper.

I don't remember the blade height of the 6,(Its taller than the BJ) but I can tell you its full height convex with a zero edge. The SAR6 is NOT a chopper though... It can chop. If you want a chopper, get a chopper.

Don't get either. Instead opt for a swamp rat RMD LE. I think they're all roughly the same size, but the RMD LE is cheaper and stylistically more unique with the double guard.

The SAR has a zero edge (which gives it amazing bite), its 1.50” tall (compared to the BJ at 1.25”) and has a longer blade and handle. I would have to respectfully disagree with adrock and say it IS a chopper. It’s no BM, but for a mid-sized knife, it makes for a great chopper (convex vs. V edge – convex is for chopping, V is for slicing, I think). I guess I would say it’s a great wood splitter rather than chopper, but either way the 6 will outdo the BJ in the chopping/splitting category by a good deal. Just my 2 cents, YMMV.
But they are NOT the same size or length… SAR: 12.50” long; BJ: 11.25” long. The blade, from the handle, is longer on the SAR… I own both and the BJ is a smaller knife in every way (besides thickness – both about .220).
The cutting edge of the BJ measures about the same if it did NOT have a choil; with a choil it is around .75” less than the SAR.

I'll second the RMD2 LE - it has so far kept me happy enough to not have ordered a BJ or SAR6.

Its just an awesome AWESOME blade...
