This is a modified design from my CPMD2 DP ( drop point ) model. Extended the blade 3/4" added a little more belly, a deeper finger grove and some file work for extra grip/indexing.
SAR CPMD2 S/E ( Survive and Escape ) #001
CPMD2 with a HRc of 60
1/8"x9 1/4" OAL with a 4 1/4" hollow ground blade
Black coarse texture carbon fiber bead blast finish
Tumbled Finished blade
Black kydex drop leg rig w/ a New* SAR Fire-walker 5000 meter pace counter, Ferrocerium fire-steel rod set in F22 CF and SAR eclipse micro reflector signal device.
Black o'ring retention system
Simple 550 cord leg strap
Total weight 9.9 ounces
I have a few more in the works for Vegas at G2.
Happy 4th of July everyone
Thanks
SAR
The next day I had the chance to wear CPMD2 S/E 001 found out some changes really needed to happen on his and the second drop leg rig.
The things I needed to change and did successfully
1 The sheath flopped around during movement, extraction and insertion
2 The leg strap was really too narrow and it did not adjust or fasten well.
3 The Fire-Walker was missing something and a bit too narrow, it need just a bit more meat around it and some color.
4 From my experience in the Infantry/ski patrolling anything that can rub you wrong during long patrols, forced marches and rescues etc will really piss a guy off. The back of the sheath had a few hard spots=Hot spots=pain for the end user.
I was happy with number one but not satisfied. The specs are the same as #001 except this one is 3/4" shorter in the blade length.
So spent about 8 hours looking to simplify the whole drop leg and come away looking clean? So the out come is a simple utilility knife thats light, tough and will get the job done.
Here is a 15 second video of the knife/sheath...nothing fancy.
