SAR3 sharp edges

I tried my best to get used to the sharp edges on the scales of the SAR3, but to no avail. I dont know if others had this problem, but I thought I would pass along my method to smooth them out.

I used my dremmel tool with one of those little rubberized abrasive wheels. It really worked great..it knocked down the sharp edges and even polished the scales up a little.

I used a Blue Scotch Brite pad on a die grinder knocked the ridges right off.
Cordless drill, A/C drill or Drill press will work just fine just wont spin as fast.

I just finished doing the same thing to mine about 45 mins ago, kicked up the comp and here you are talking about it. Way better without a doubt, smooth up the sharp edges on the pommel area and this thing is perfect.

Another quick, and easy solution. Get some fingernail files (the paper/sandpaper kind, they also make buffers for a high polish). Cheap, easy, and very easy to control exactly where you are sanding without stressing about ruining anything. You can even use them to break sharp edges on your guns.

I just held one three days ago, and immediately thought how easy it would be to take the "Bite" out of those edges.

I think I used a little 220 grit sandpaper and that did the job just fine.

On a side note, you can also sharpen an edge with a fingernail file. Especially the higher quality ones (with a rough side, and a polishing side, with a core with some give). You can Pack a stack in your bag, and not even notice they are there in a zip lock bag. It is like a mini mini strop.

I used a couple squares of wet/dry sandpaper (600) and did a little scrubbing under a running water faucet (1) it keeps down/washes away the micarta dust which you do NOT want to breathe and (2) you can see the emerging color patterns more clearly. Feels much better now.
Cheers,
