mmm....pork, nice looking hog you got there.

how did it handle the skinning? did you have to touch up the edge? were there any hot spot's on the handle?

Congrats on the hog! A 70-pounder is about the perfect eating size and the SAR-3 is a great choice of knife for processing one that size.

How did the knife do ? Looks an ideal size for working inside the carcass ....

mmmmmmmmm....... the other white meat!

Smoke it over Pecan... really brings out the flavor.

I want to shoot a Pig....I need some bacon:)

Congratulations!

Isn't that like sacrilegious or something, to skin a hog with a Busse? :D

I think it is a beautiful thing, when a fine piece of steal can do the work that needs to be done. My SAR did the job well. This was at a Texas Youth hunt in South Texas. There were 7 kids and their fathers or Grandfathers including me and my son. I had all the kids and parants around watching and learning. All commented on how easy my SAR made the job. There were several other knife makers repesented, store bought stuff but not at all crapy blades. We harvested six doe and one hog, and everyone asked to use my SAR at one time or another. I made sure it was nice and sharp before we left and I did not have to touch it again the entire weekend. I was very impressed that it held a fantastic edge after the hog and parts of six other deer. I thought the handle was a bid sharp when I first got it, but being covered in blood those channels kept the blood away form my palms and the edges allowed me to keep a firm grip on the blade even covered in blood. This was my first time using a Busse knife in the outdoors, and having just discovered Busse and Bussekin about six months ago I can tell you that they are worth the money. I also used my Ratmandu to baton some mesquite for the fire and was very impressed with that as well.

The SAR worked beautifully for skinning and was very manuverable inside the hog as well. Can't say enough on how impressed and happy I am with my Busse and Bussekin purchases. These puppies are definately not just for show, or to be safe queens. Get out and use them, that is what they were made for. You will not be diappointed.

No, no, it is just sweet irony!

And tasty.

I really need to think about getting a deer and elk tag this year.

I honestly can't remember when the modern firearm season starts for Deer in Washington. I may already be well past deer.

About two or three seasons ago I got a chance to help a friend butcher his elk. I used an Ash1cg (which did excellent, despite it's girth. It was the factory edge at that time).

Also used were a modded SS and a convexed GW.

that's awesome, nice little write up.

Congrats on the sucessful hunt. Wild hog is excellent table fare, much better than store bought IMO. I like to cut it up in thin strips, fry it with Olive oil in a CastIron skillet with black pepper and Tony Chacere's. The knife did quite well for that much skinning and processing.

Good work, glad to hear the SAR3 was up to the task. I usually don't have the time and patience for hunting. However, given my love of bacon and it's current market value, I may have to reconsider:D Also, it'd be another excuse to use the INFI...
