Question for those who have both SAR4 and SAR8 and use them both- if you had a user SAR8, would you still buy a SAR4? Or is SAR8 universal enough for carry in the woods and camping?

I have both, and i use them both, the SAR 8 is awesome for heading out to the unknown, not too heavy, but chops good, poles for leantos or fire wood, SAR4 better for cleaning fish or game and smaller needs. You need both.

IMO the SAR8 is a little big to be universal. I would recommend using the SAR8 with a smaller blade like a Game Warden or Cultie piggybacked on the sheath.

That is my method and it covers all the bases.

Hmmm... a DC Sar8 would match the BOSS St nicely.... THAT would be a pretty sweet combo.

SAR8 & the original Lean Mean Street (NOT A "LEANER MEANER" STREET)....or a BOSS MS (options good)!

How about using the SAR 8 to piggy back on the KZ??:D

You could call it the "don't drop that sheath on my foot" combo.....

Or the "Steel Toe Caps Shuffle"....

Seriously though...the SAR4 is quite a heavy weight knife for it's size...if you
have the SAR 8 I would go with a lighter knife to pair it with...unless you want to pick
which one to carry seperately for different uses....a skely type knife like the scotch dispenser as suggested would be a good option:thumbup:

Thanks guys. I was not thinking about carrying a collection around with me, just wanted one knife that's with me all the time. Will stick with SAR8 for now...

Good call:thumbup: I think the SAR 8 is just about the perfect "do it all" knife...and I have all of the other "main contenders" for this title...

Have both - love both. But I want to have the Busse Combat shop mod my SAR-4, enlarging the choil so that it's the same size and shape as the choil on my SAR-8, just haven't heard back from them yet - understandable considering how busy they all have been. My thought is that this mod would make it easier/safer switch back and forth between the two since the handles are so similar otherwise and I'd only be losing a half inch or so of the SAR-4's cutting edge - if I need more blade, I shift to the SAR-8.

I would get that SAR4 choil mod done in a heartbeat - I'd be very interested to here what the shop tells you...

Glad to hear your using yours. Too may people on these and other forums buying this stuff to take pictures of it and thats it! Pathetic.

That said, those are my two favorite Busses. I have a black and tan Sar4 and love it.

How about some pics of those babies in use???? :) Thanks.
