I just picked up a SAR5 on the exchange. I really picked up this blade to mainly stay in the kitchen for food prep and such. I plan on stripping the coating right off the bat. What other mods should I consider to make it more efficient in the kitchen? Has anyone done this yet? It just looks like a great kitchen knife until I find thin Nick.

Justabuyer just modded one into a kitchen slicer. You can see his thread HERE. :)

That was a thin ASH.. but the SAR is closer to a kitchen knife and would be less work to make it work.

Grind 'em up:thumbup:  :p

Oh crap, you're absolutely right! :o ...My bad, sorry digitalvid210.

Unless you're going to be chopping through frozen meat or bone, thinning the edge out will help considerably.

Leave teh edge, drill out the handles and take off about half the material. That'll give it more balance and less kitchen fatigue. It's gaht a chappah handle.
