Sardinian Pattada suggestions?

I have been looking at the pattada pattern knives from Sardinia, and I have been liking them enough to try one out. Unfortunately, my usual knife addiction suppliers seem to only have a couple of options, and google only leads me to international sites with nothing in stock. Of what I can easily find the Pattada from Spyderco is too close to all my other spydies in styling, and though I dig the Extrema Ratio Resolza, realistically I would hesitate to whip a knife that big out in public.

Can anyone recommend a pattada with a 3-4 inch blade from a bladeforums sponsor, budget under $100? I am okay with cheaper knives if they are quality, and if nothing comes of this I will probably get a larger Opinel and try to mod it. But I would really like to be lazy this time and just click Buy. Please, if you are going to respond, I have no intention of "going custom" on an exploratory knife that I think looks cool, and I am trying not to buy anything off of eBay or Amazon until they get their act together on all the 3rd party ripoff artists.

Thanks for your time.

Aitor made a nice affordable one under the "Castor" model name. The chief US importing agent for their line discontinued carrying it a while back, but you may find some retailers that still have them in stock.

If you aren't going to go spendy, the only thing I can think of is Italian manufacturer Antonini. They offer a few southern European patterns including the pattada. Their offerings are typically low end-ish, starting with simple plastic handled versions to more traditionally constructed models with horn handles. I actually really like the low end steel they use. Stainless, simple stuff, but gets really sharp really easily. Unfortunately, Antonini seems to have pretty limited distribution in the US. Several years back, I purchased a couple direct from their US office/distributor. But it looks like they don't do that anymore. I can only think of one US vendor, and I'm not sure they're a BF sponsor.

Hi! I also didn’t want to spend a fortune for a pattada (I’m more into modern folders) and ended up buying a mid-tech product from Vittorio Mura some years ago for around 100 EUR. It’s a decent product, well manufactured and really a user . My pair for beach holidays is this pattada and the Spyderco Pacific Salt PE :). I am lucky enough to spend beach holidays in Sardinia every year, so that was pretty easy purchase for me :D.

If you browse through the Traditional sub-forum, you will find good contacts able to help you and give great guidance in your choice. Hoping not to break any rule, if you really want to shop on-line, instead, I can suggest you to google the Consigli and Collini web-sites. Makers and dealers which deliver internationally. I suggest you get in contact with them prior to your purchase, to get info about customs/taxes, etc.

Good luck :) !

Extrema Ratio is coming out with a smaller Resolza S with a 3.11" blade.

Search for an Italian Company called "Saladini" They have a nice one made with olive wood handles. Sold at around 125 Euros in Europe (:D one is on it's way currently to me)

I recently handled the Spyderco intro. If you can somehow stretch your budget into that one, you'll have one to please you for a lifetime. What a beauty. No hotspots, buttery opening, and that deep-carry wire clip. I'm debating hard with myself over this one, because it's not something I could often carry.

Fox knives (Italy) makes a Pattada style knife they call Nuragus. I have one and in my opinion it is a reasonably priced knife that follows the pattern quite well. On the right with my ER resolza.
