Hey guys. First off, i havent done too many reviews, so bear with me! Like many of you, im always on the search for the bushcraft knife to blow all the others away. I always thought that it was impossible to find "the" knife, but i believe i found mine! I was searching around another forum when i came across Brian Sargent's knives. Hes a relatively new knifemaker that makes knives mostly for hobby. As soon as i saw his Model 3, i HAD to have one. So i contacted Brian, and quickly received an email from him. After a few emails back and forth, I ended up ordering a Model 3 with sandblasted black micarta handles and a fold over leather sheath with a dangler and a firesteel loop. Fast forward a few weeks and the knife came in the mail. Brian finished extremely quickly. As soon as i held the knife i was amazed.. The sheath had retention very similar to kydex, and i couldnt believe that it was leather.. The knife felt perfect in the hand, Brian really nailed the ergos of this knife. It works extremely well in all sorts of grips. The grind is the best scandi ive ever owned. It cuts through wood like a laser, and i mean that... It came with a mirror-like polish on the edge. I cannot say enough good about this knife.. I know im missing some details, but ive only had it for a few weeks, so Im still testing it.
Brian is a great guy, and he makes some great products. Ive had all sorts of high end knives, and Brian's out-preforms them in so many ways.

Overall, this knife has been one of the best blades ive ever owned. I can say for sure that this wont be my last knife from Brian! Mors Kochanski would be proud of this knife.

Looks like a great knife. The sheath looks very nice also. What steel is it? How long is it?

Nice looking "bushcrafter" design. It looks a bit beefier than most, kinda reminds me of the Skookum.

I asked Brian to make the handles a little on the thick side. For a good sized knife, youd be surprised how nimble it can be! Im starting to dig scandi grinds again. Ever since i discovered the greatness of a convex edge, my scandi knives havent seen much use. I really like scandis more for woodwork, obviously..

The main thing that caught my eye was the Skookum like appearance. Ive always wanted a Skookum, but the price and demand makes them hard to come by.

It looks just like my Skookum minus the but plate. I would be proud to own that, and if I would have seen that one years ago I would probably not have the Skookum I have today. Can you email me his contact info so I can get a price from him. Mught have to buy that one for the wife. If I tell her its a present for her I wont get yelled at for buying one.

Brian Sargent... doh!

Me and my withered brain, no wonder Brian's name sound so familiar to me! He made a dangler attachment for my Skookum Bush Tool! It was the perfect finishing-piece for that blade! Brian is fast, inexpensive and a great guy to work with.

My Skookum with Brian's dangler! Without it, I was using paracord to hang that knife!

That looks great. The sculpted thick handles look comfortable in use. Grind looks great too.
Just pm'd Brian.

The handles are awesome. The sandblasted feature is my favorite part. It gives you an incredible grip on the knife at all times. Looks pretty cool too.. The grind is as close to perfect as i think one can get.. Im really picky about grinds on my knives, and Brian nailed it. First scandi I've owned thats held its edge almost like a convex.

I have ordered and waited for custom knives before. But something about this knife.....it's driving me crazy waiting for it!! I've not been this excited in a long time. I have sold many of the bushcraft knives I've had because 'it just wasn't for me, something was missing'. I think this model will be one I'll hang on to for a long time.

For what it's worth, I ordered one with red linen micarta. Can't wait!!

Sisk61- post up some more pics of yours please!

Awesome! trust me, your expectations are spot on. This knife is the best knife ive owned. Ill take some more pictures when i get it back from Brian. He's touching up the knife for me and i also got him to make a backsewn Skookum-style for me. I cannot wait to get it back! i miss it! Im definitely going to buy more of Brian's knives.
