Mail call today from Old Towne Cutlery. This thing is even nicer in person than I expected, pics dont do it justice. Action is way better than any slipjoint or back locking knife I've handled. I'll try to get some pics in natural light later. This one is blue burlatex on natural liners. Came with a small scuff on the bottom of one scale but it'll easily buff out and I'm sure I'll drop it many times.

Wow, looks great. I've eyed them up before, and this makes me want to circle back and look again. Looks like great workmanship.

I know I couldn't believe the lack of posts about these knives online seeing as how most of the first batch has sold by now. I must say this is quickly becoming my favorite edc knife and will probably always be in my pocket no matter how many other knives and things I'm carrying. The workmanship is great and the fit and finish and natural liners really show great in the sunlight. The hollow grind makes for a really thin, smooth slicer too. I touched up my shave the other day in the men's room just for fun and couldn't even feel it after a good hone and strop.

Not gonna lie, Jordan, that blue curly maple one that DLT has is calling my name pretty hard. If I come into some more money I may end up with one of these to pass down to each of my three sons. = )

The blue one is certainly a looker, the black and green micarta is really tugging at my heartstrings right now though.

Very nice, what are the measurements?

Just over 2 and 1/2 inch blade on these puppies. 3 1/2 inch closed.

As someone who has bought a lot of knives, some I even regretted, I would recommend that everyone buy this knife while one is available. It's definitely a keeper and there aren't that many left. I may need to sell my other slipjoints though, because I can't imagine not carrying this thing ever again. Might even buy a sheet of burlatex and see if I can make some scales for my proper to match.

The Logo is pretty darn cool as well -

Neat logo and unique placement. I dig how the knife looks, but I'm not a fan of the bolsters on the knives - to me it screams I wanted a shadow pattern and I want bolsters. Overall it cheapens the look imo, I would buy one with steel or nickel silver bolsters.

Maybe I should handle one before I pass judgement.

There were some without bolsters too. Check out the SKT Instagram they have some pics of the whole batch too.

Thanks for pointing that out, they are good looking. Zulu esque blade shape as well. I'll keep my eye out but it's hard to kick the Coffin Jack out of my pocket.

Hey Jordan,

Have you noticed that any of yours have the blade make contact with the spring when closed? I just realized mine does and has gotten a little notch in the blade where it hits the widest part of the spring.

I almost have stropped it out and once it's gone I'll try to be more careful with it in my pocket and see if it comes back.

I took a look at two of them and couldn't replicate it without pushing on the closed blade very firmly, do you have a photo of where yours hits?

Must be from getting smashed in my pocket. I need to order a little leather pouch for it. Thanks for checking.

Woah, no way, nah-uh, send that puppy back.:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

I have had slipjoints that do that, it is a sign of poor manufacturing (insufficient kick left on the tang) and QC, not acceptable on a $30 knife much less on what these go for.

The amount of force required to cause that kind of blade damage and cut into the spring doesn't come from a gentle squeeze on the closed knife, it is caused by the backspring shutting the knife. Keep in mind that as you attempt to fix the problem by sharpening back the edge again and again, you may find that the knife continues to incur damage because the kick is STILL not making contact before the blade edge - as you remove edge, you simply allow the blade to set further into the handle while STILL encountering the back spring.

Face it, the maker over-ground the kick. It never should have left the shop. Send it back for a replacement.
