Sarsquatch vs Chopweiler..., in your opinion. which is the strongest ?

Both are tough as heck but I would give the nod to the thicker spine of the Chopweiler :)

Yes, but the SARq is Infi which is a tougher steel. I would go with the SARq for the combo of edge + body toughness.

That being said, the Chopweiler is PLENTY tough and a knife that I like a lot.

I love my SARq's. My one and only complaint is the stupid swedge. I don't baton that much though so it is a fairly hollow negative to me. One of my favorites, the SARq has kept me from pulling the trigger on the SFNO (same size/shape blade) and apparently now the chopweiler too. I didn't realize the similarity till now. Thanks for the pic.

I have heard of people on this forum that have had the Sarsquatch rust but bust never. Given it spec's I doubt a normal human could do it any damage in any normal use situation. When I look at it and hold it in my hand I am sure I could break it on my best day unaided anyway.

. Thicker spine vs tougher steel.

. Ratweiler is more flexible, SARsquatch resists better on stone impacts.

Conclusion : I want an INFI Ratweiler and a thicker SARsquatch !

The rust has been on the CE (non-coated) models, and is not only the SQ. All of the CEs seem to be prone to getting a little rust due to the decarb left in the pits on the blade.

Sold my chopweiler, I never warmed up to it, and I have a Rattweiler anyway (Banned that is):D, the sarsquatch gets my vote. The squatch is tougher than a $2.00 steak and lighter than the chopweiler, and if you somehow miraculously managed to break it Jerry would get you fixed up, although so would the swamp for that matter. I vote for the dual wield!!! My Rattweiler... stupid sharp.

Tough call. Otherwise, I'd easily choose anything INFI over the Chopweiler, but the Squatch is just so damn... well, very not aesthetically pleasing. :D

Did the SARsquatch was a project of Busse Combat with any Search And Rescue Association ?

Why this choice with a blade thickness of 0.187 for the SARsquatch ?

The SARq would be a better camp knife without the swedge, that's for sure. For Search and Rescue I can see where the swedge would be useful.

Both are awesome blades, you cannot go wrong with either one. Get them both, I did, LOL

Just curious; how do you see the swedge as useful in SAR?

Thanks,

What's so bad about the swedge? Unless you sharpen it, it's not going to cut through your baton quickly. Damage it? sure, but what is the big deal about a damaged baton? If you ever baton a thin blade like a Leuku or machete, it'll tear the baton up, too, but it really isn't an issue.

:D:D

I like my Squatch'z. I used one as a throwing knife in the rain one day. Stuck it back into the sheath to see JUST WHAT RUST WOULD DEVELOP. Yep, decarb rusted pretty good. Halted at that. I've just not bothered to clean it off yet. Might make the knife look to purdy.
