I could use some advice. What are the differences between the comp. grade SARsquatch, the SE, and the coated SARsquatch? What were the price differences? Is the comp. grade simply a stripped SARsquatch or is there more to it than that? And what were the optional finishes? Thanks in advance.

My memory does not serve me well right now, but I can answer part of that. The Comp finish as I recall, had black canvas micarta slabs. The other 2 versions as I believe were tan canvas micarta with gray coating and black linen micarta with black coating. They are all convex ground, but the comp finish was a little more polished than what I found under the coating when I stripped mine.

The competition grade isn't a "stripped" SARsquatch. It is simply a knife that was never satin/double cut finished and never coated.

Here is the SARsquatch CG:

Here it is stripped and convexed:

Here is the stripped CG next to the CE:

Here is the CG after full convex and bowie clip point grinding along side the CE.

Here is the CE after some sanding to smooth it out. It is next to the SOD.

I think I paid about $350 or so for each SARsquatch.
