Excellent question. Just from the looks I'd bet the Sarsquatch can out chop the ASH-1.
However, I do not see the CG ASH1 as a chopper. For that, the FFBM is my go to.![]()
Ban,
How would you compare it with a SHE like the one you did for Cobalt? With the butt ground off and all....did the butt reductionhelp the balance for chopping? I know the edge is a tad thick on most of the e series knives
. So a Banned SHE VS. a SARsquatch
THAT is the question
.
BAN: Would you compare the performance of the Sarsquatch similar to the Ratweiler/Chopweiler?

It has been a while since I used a Ratweiler/Chopweiler. I would imagine that the performance would be very close if both were given the same edge geometry. I can probably chop a tad better with a SARsq than with a RW/CW because the handle ergo just fits my hand better.
The ergos on the sarsquatch seem to be fantastic, at least for those of use with small-medium hands.
Wuh Oh. What about for people with large hands? Any Ham-handed folks score a Saraquatch yet? Or maybe someone with large hands handled one at Blade?

Actually, the one I did for Cobalt was a BMe with a butt grind. And yes it did move the balance forward a bit. The SARsquatch is not in the same chopping class as a BMe.
The SHe and the SARsquatch would be very close but I think that the SARsq may have a slight edge because of the wider blade and slightly more forward balance. It also allows for one to choke way back on the grip to gain even more leverage. I will try out a RW in a little bit because I just happen to have one laying around that belongs to Jeepnut22

I will bring a SarQ and a RW to the Norcal gathering. Feel them and test them yourself TL.![]()

I am sure they will be fine for folks with large hands. Those handles are a tad big but very very usuable for me.
Bubba they are sweet!!!
