chev74 K KenHash I have run across what I believe is a sashimi knife by Sakai Kikuo. It was very rusty, and the handle was in decent shape. In removing it, I broke what I believe was the magnolia wood handle. I have been working on restoring it to the best of my abilities. I am looking to get a little history if you know of any. Here are the pictures I have: https://imgur.com/a/Bkqvmdv

Any help is appreciated

Sorry can't help you there because the Sakai Kikuo brand appears to be discontinued as no vendor in Japan carries them. The ones I found were all on Japanese auction sites. But does appear to be a genuine "Sakai" knife.
Very nice job cleaning it up, and the use of stacked leather on the handle.

Thanks Ken. I appreciate the confirmation that it is a genuine Sakai. The stack on the handle is actually pecan spaced with brown G10. Came out surprisingly well.

Great job! Currently I have no idea what I would use a knife like that for (does not suit my style of cooking) but you sure did a great job with the restoration.

Nice work!
When you said restoring to the best of your abilities, I thought oh no here we go :p, but I was pleasantly surprised and the knife is beautiful!

Ha! Thanks Korean Hog Korean Hog It is my first attempt at a restoration. This knife had been sitting in my shop for months just begging for a pick me up.

The pecan, like I said, turned out far better than I originally intended.

Great job Chev you've definitely got the skillzzzz
