I'm sure it's not really thread worthy, but, what the hell. The wife had some pork steaks marinating overnight, and instead of cooking them on the grill, I suggested we get a fire going, and cook them over the fire. I batonned a crap load of kindling with my 9, but didn't get any photos of it, as I was in a hurry to get a fire going before it got overly dark. I hate taking photos using the flash, but had to at night.

Got a blazing fire going:

Set my 6 foot folding table on it's side, as a makeshift wind block:

Nothing beats a nice fire:

My well loved 9:

Threw the pork steaks on the fire. Not a big fan of foil, but my grate is in pretty bad shape, so necessary:

I love pork steak, especially over the fire:

Marinated pork steak, Vermont Maple syrup glazed carrots, and mashed potatoes. It was freakin' good, and fun to eat sitting at a table at night by the fire. It was about 42°, so a nice night for a fire:

It was a little more romantic without the flash, haha, but my camera sucks at low light levels:

Nothing earth shattering, but we had a good time.

Thanks, Dubz. Made me feel all warm and cozy just looking at the pics. I can almost smell the wood smoke. Odd question - do you know what kind of wood you burned? I've got half a cord of sugar maple that just smells fantastic (burning or not)!
p.s. IMO, definitely thread worthy.

I have no idea what kind of wood it is. It's heavy, whatever it is. We bought 1/2 cord not too long ago.

there is nothing better than a fire. very cool way to spend an evening. thanks for sharing.

I agree man, I love it. We sit by one every chance we get. It's nice to have a wife that's interested in the same things I am. She loves the great outdoors.

Great photos and thanks for sharing. The wife and I love to have a fire when we get the chance.

I would love to be sitting near a fire right now but it's way too hot for that unfortunately!! Maple carrots sound awesome, I do them with honey sometimes but I will definitely try maple next. Thanks for sharing, looks like you had a nice night with the missus.

Looks good Dubz. Any meal on a fire beats the best meals I've eaten from the stove.

Thanks man. Hell yes, I love stuff cooked over a fire. That pork steak kicked my ass. It was delicious.

I'd say it's thread worthy, but then again I just really enjoy looking at pictures of fire and food.

Definitely thread worthy. I wanted to have a fire last night, but seeing the pics makes up for not being able to do so. I'm sure my lady would put the squeeze on me to have a romantic dinner by the fire if she saw your pics, so I better get to it before she sees this thread. ;)

Thanks guys, appreciate it. We had a blast. We usually do hot dogs by the fire, but every once in awhile we do this. This is the first time we sat at a table with the propane lantern though, haha.

A fire not worthy?

That's what life's all about.

The fire was worthy, the Becker content, not so much. I can't take photos of myself batonning, haha. I could have gone inside to get my camera to take photos of the big pile of kindling I made, but, like I said, I wanted to get the fire going before it got dark.

Sometimes it's OK if the Becker content is implied, we all know you can't take selfies of batonning, just the before and after pics.
I was gonna ask how the batonning goes with the coating on, I stripped my 9 'cause the wood was sticking to the coating (newer laser-etched 9). When I stripped it there was a 3/4" splinter still stuck to the coating...seems to work a lot better now with the bare steel, although there's a little more maintenance involved.

It works fine with the coating. Probably is better without. I'm slowly stripping it, one log at a time, haha. I need to get some sander belts so I can mod it.

Fire, knives and good food. No, that's not thread worthy at all....:D

Good stuff Dubz.
