I had to give a review of my new KSF leather sheath this weekend that can be found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=698424.

So it seemed most appropriate to do the review in the great outdoors and get my dog walk in all at the same time. I arrived at my little prairie park at about 8:30 am this morning. While, we really haven't retained any snow yet, it has been cold the last few days and there was still a nice frost hanging off the prairie plants.

Here is the KSF Leather Izula Sheath I was reviewing. Its a nifty little sheath.

As I was walking, my spydie sense started tingling and I knew I was being watched. Good thing I had a zoom lens!

I continued my walk a bit more. Just taking a few more pics of the scenes.

Then I decided to stop and have my morning coffee. Man, I just love this Starbuck's instant coffee. Its just the cats meow for this kind of thing.

As I waited for my crappy 'Canned heat' stove to boil my water, I played a little bit with the S-Curve. First I did some batoning, as I yet again took advantage of that big downed cotton wood to harvest some more wood for bow drill practice.

What an ugly knife! Well, at least its comfortable!

I decided to do a bit of chopping with it also. As Brian Andrews indicated in his review, the S-Curve lacks the weight to really chop hard with it. However, Rick does a beautiful job on his convex grind and the way this knife really chops well is by using less forceful but well aimed snap cuts. It quickly makes short work of good sized limbs when chopping in this manner.

Here is the maxpedition falcon II. I have a water bottle holder hanging off the side and now started using this slightly bigger external camera case pouch hanging on the front as my fire-kit pouch.

Last shot of the prairie before I left.

Nice shots. I had Stomper make me a sheath along those lines for one of my small JK's and a fire steel. It fits the Hikers Backup. Pretty handy.

How well does the water bottle carrier ride on the Falcon? Is the added weight on one side noticeable?

I'm thinking of doing a very similar setup once I get a Falcon:thumbup:

I use the molle clips that came with my Rat Cutlery knives to connect the bottle holder to the molle webbing on the sides of the Falcon II. Its okay, but a bit of pain to take on an off. Very secure this way though.

Falcon II feels fine with the water bottle holder. I have two water bottle holders and sometime put them on both sides of the sheath. I really don't notice it when its there at all. Getting some true molle ties would work better than the clips I'm using.

The pouch on the water bottle holder adds good carrying capacity to the bag overall. Plus not only does the water bottle holder hold my naglene, it also holds my nested pots and small stove.

Great pics! I like the idea of that Starbucks, too:thumbup: I may have to chase some of them down:D

VERY nice!

It is nice to be able to get away and be in nature, and a bonus to see nature as well (wild animals).

Thanks for sharing!

Nice pics and thanks for sharing. I had my first tast of Starbucks instant coffee today, made it while I was out hiking. It is some really good coffee.

Awesome pics Ken, certainly something I miss, I need to get on here more.

How have ya been anyways?

Hey Fonly, where you at these days? You still West or did you move back East??? I've been a bit quiet lately because work has me jumping around all over the place. I finish my administering my exams next week and after marking them I am free of teaching duties over the Winter.

Tonym - yeah I'm literally in at the Southern point of Canada. On Wed. I had to drive about 3 h north to Waterloo, near Toronto and they had a nasty storm. Slippery as heck. Came back that same day to Windsor and it was dry as a bone.

Cold as hell here the last two days. Massive winds making the -10 degrees Celsius feel like -20 degrees (approx. zero Fahrenheit). Usually here and Windsor its a big if in terms of whether we will have snow for Christmas or not. We may or we may not. The snow eventually comes but not so early as it does north of us. Mentor probably has some in his playground right now. Personally, I'm just waiting for that stuff to fall. I hate it when the leaves are all gone and the ground is still brown and dull.

Nice looking pics. I gotta give a plus 1 to the Starbucks Via coffee. It's pretty good.

Great pics. Was in southern Ontario a week ago for business. Did a few geocaches but no hiking.

I love that S-Curve.

Looks like a fine morning, Do you have a pic of the back of the sheath?

99f250 - if you go to the very first post and top text there is a link to a review of the sheath with pictures of the back of it.
