Satanite v mullite

Hello and apologies if I’m posting in the wrong place. I was not able to find a recent thread on my question.

My Mr Volcano 2.0 is a year old and the refractory needs repair. The original satanite was applied over rigidized superwool. Can I use mullite (2200F) to repair the satanite already in there?

I’m looking specifically at a Rutland product called High Temp Refractory Cement and the main ingredient is mullite, which I understand to be an ingredient in satanite.

Thanks.

2200°F is far too low. You want something rated 3000° or higher. Satanite is 3200°F.
Amazon has pretty much every type, including Satanite.
They can usually be applied over each other with the base layer wetted down first.

Just because the forge only reaches 2600°F doesn't mean that the flames won't erode the refractory. With proper air mix propane burns at 3600°F
