Hello everyone I hope you all had a good holiday. I am interested in getting either a Sirius or XM radio. Any suggestions on the best signal in So Calif. Also looking for a portable unit to switch from work truck to car. I saw the Sirius XACT with the portable boom box and built in cd player. This unit can also be seperated from the boom box and used with earphones as a portable. I saw it at Costco for $229 with a $50 discount off of activation. What do you use and are you aware of any rebates or specials? Thanks

I have an XM as well and also love it. I live here in NV and have driven to So Cal without it missing a beat. I have had it for about 8 months now and and have not had one single problem. I just purchased the cheapo home kit (didn't want to spend 99 bucks for the boombox). So now I can sit at my desk and listen to it. As a matter of fact last week I replaced the stereo system in my truck and had them hard wire the Delphi. I can still remove it from the truck but now I don't have all the wires hanging down. And I now get true digital sound. I recall when the satellite radio first came out. My reaction was "Who in the h--- would pay to listen to radio? Well, the commercials finally did me in and I have never regretted it.

cpk The Sirius XACT is not a true portable. It is only a tuner, you can not use it by itself. For 'portable" you have to buy the PowerPod, which is a battery pack and a satellite antenna. The PowerPod is the size of a book.

Today, the only true portable satellite radio is the XM MiFi.

Thanks everyone for their input. Yes the myfi looks pretty good. It is $349 but you get the portable unit, car kit, home kit, rechargeable battery, stand, antennas, cassette adapter, carrying case and clip, earphones. I will have to see one!
