First off, big thanks to Galaxytech and Solstice!

I found their good re-finishing tips here

and here

So I figured I'd try to give my Desert Jack a new look. When I got the Jack it had had its desert coating removed, and a semi-satin finish applied. So after touching up the edge I whiped out some painters tape, exacto knife, and Krylon and made a weak attempt at giving it a desert/digi finish, seen here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=392826&highlight=poker

Well, first I stripped it

and gave it a once over with the rust remover pad. Here's a half n half look:

Another look at the difference the rust remover pad makes:

After the rust remover I went over it with a circle of regular 3M greenpad attached to a washer and screw, for a finer version of the rust remover pad.

Next came Flitz paste and a Dremel buffing.

Next up, bluing! (Check out that Hamon line!!!)

 More pics!!!

That looks sweet. Great job!!

Steel wool and several more coats resulted in a nice, cloudy but very smooth finish.

So I thought I'd try to get the sunset over yonder clouds...

Enjoy!

Nice job. How long did the refinish with the wheel take? Additionally, did the wheel have any affect on the micarta?

No effect on the micarta, it's just a slightly stronger version of a 3M "greenpad". It took about 5 minutes per side. Maybe 3 minutes per side. Note though, that I finished with greenpad, then flitz/dremmel buff. And of course the final steel-wool to bring out the gleam (those pics suck, actually). I probably have two hours invested, but that's over three days... not a bad hobby.
