I was scrubbing something off my 806D2 with a Scotchbrite sponge and the black coating started coming off reall easy. I thought Hmmm . . . and got out the old torx screwdriver. I pulled out the blade, stripped it, polished it, resharpened it and reinstalled it in the course of an evening. I ended up with a nice satin finish.

I know I voided the warranty, but I don't care. It looks sweet :D

Thats sounds pretty cool, just make sure you have a good coat of tuf-cloth or something, cuase that thing will rust. Let us know how it goes in a few months.

I'm not too worried about rust--LOTS of D2 knives with uncoated blades out there. We'll see if it stands the test of time.

Why hasn't BM come out with a afck axis with uncoated d2? or better yet a mini afck axis with uncoated d2?

I'm waiting for the satin version of the Axis AFCK too... I'd be happy with 154CM / ATS34 - but S30V would be even better!

Actually it's been asked many times... and I'm sure BM will do it one day, it's just a matter of when!
